New Fees of Certain USCIS Forms Released
On July 18, 2025, USCIS announced that the new fees are required for certain USCIS forms on or after July 22, 2025. USCIS specifically stated that they will reject any form postmarked after August 21, 2025, without the proper fees. Some USCIS filing fees are significantly changed as below.
For example: For Asylum filing case, there is no previous filing (initial fee) but it has changed to $100 filing fee with no fee waiver is available. In addition to the initial filing fee, if the asylum case is pending, the applicant must pay $100 annually.
For EAD Document, there is no initial EAD application fee for the asylum applicant. But it has changed to EAD (initial) application fees of $550.00 per applicant. If EAD renewal is needed, the current fee is $520 when paper filing ($470 for online filing) but it has changed to $795 for paper filing ($745 for online filing).
This table is an example for “pending asylum case” only.
What will happen to the Form with insufficient fund or dishonored payment cases if USCIS approved the petition accidentally?
If USCIS approve the petition, application, or request and the payment has not been properly funded or the applicant subsequently dispute payment of the fee, USCIS may revoke, rescind, or cancel the approval with notice (for example, by issuing a Notice of Intent to Revoke). Please note that USCIS will not separately bill the applicant for the unpaid fee. If the applicant receives a Notice of Intent to Revoke (if regarding payment issue only), the applicant may respond with payment of the correct fee amount.
